Seven Assumptions underpin this Toolkit

The following seven assumptions are core to this toolkit’s approaches to designing health-promoting and health-enabling environments strategies to help develop positive mental health and mentally healthy campuses:

1. Respect a person’s agency to define positive mental health for themselves

2. The expression of positive mental health is personal and unique to the individual

3. Positive mental health and mental illness, disorders or addictions exist together

4. A person is not an island but an ecology

5. Positive mental health relates to everyone (the 5 in 5)

6. Positive mental health refers to more than people

7. Focus on intent, not activity
