Food insecurity on post-secondary campuses is a serious but overlooked issue. Studies have consistently shown rates of 30% to 40% of students experiencing food insecurity across Canadian post-secondary institutions, yet it is rarely talked about from an institutional perspective and often left for campus food banks to address. The mental and physical health impacts of food insecurity are significant and can lead to poor academic performance and poor health outcomes for students and their families. Additional supports and solutions are needed to reduce student food insecurity and raise awareness of this long standing issue.

This webinar will focus on:

  • An overview of student food insecurity and its drivers
  • The impacts on students’ mental health and wellbeing
  • Some solutions to increase recognition of the issue and potential interventions
