This workshop was developed by Julie Stewart and Keeta Gladue with support from the University of Calgary Campus Mental Health Strategy

Grief and loss is a normal experience across the lifespan and is common among post-secondary students. The experience of loss has been amplified since the onset of COVID-19, and post-secondary communities can benefit from increasing our capacities to respond to grief with care, compassion, and support. This virtual workshop will introduce participants to some key concepts in grief and loss literature to support normalizing the experience of grief and increasing our collective capacity to support self and others when grieving. The insider knowledges of participants about what helps and harms when grieving will be welcome.

This is intended to be a capacity-building workshop, not a group counselling session. The workshop will not be recorded.

This webinar is a part of our 2022/2023 Wellness Webinar Series. This series provides topics and strategies that will support staff, students, and faculty who support student mental health. Learn more about other webinars in the series here.
