Safety plans to prevent suicide

For World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10th, 2019), the Centre for Suicide Prevention has released this toolkit. Click here to learn more.

“A safety plan is an assets-based approach designed to focus on a person’s strengths. Their unique abilities are identified and emphasized so they can draw on them when their suicidal thoughts become intense. This toolkit will explain what a safety plan is and how to create one together with an individual who may be at risk.”

This toolkit is for people wishing to help someone they know who is struggling with thoughts of suicide. If you’re struggling with thoughts of suicide yourself, contact your local crisis centre for support.
