Update – Kids Help Phone and 211 Alberta 24/7 support project

As the Government of Alberta recently announced, 211 Alberta is building a navigation and crisis support hub in collaboration with service providers, including Kids Help Phone. This announcement expands upon the enhanced 24/7 211 post-secondary student support project that begun its pilot with the University of Alberta in spring 2019.

To improve access to mental health supports for post-secondary students, 211 Alberta will launch 24-hour text and chat service for post-secondary students in February 2020 as a first step toward building the 211 hub.

The hub will rely on a shared database of available services to provide referrals and to ensure students reach the right services, at the right time, in the right place, and with the right information.

As Kids Help Phone has expertise in working with post-secondary institutions, operating post-secondary specific services in Ontario since 2013 and Nova Scotia since 2018, they will be reaching out in January to collect information about on-campus mental health and wellness supports to populate the shared hub database.
