CIHI aims to understand experiences when accessing mental health and substance use (MHSU) services by collecting data through surveys to develop two indicators. The information gathered is used to calculate measures and indicators called the Navigation of Mental Health and Substance Use Services and Early Intervention for Mental Health and Substance Use Among Children and Youth. Indicators tell a story about children, youth and adults’ access to MHSU services and highlight gaps in mental health services across Canada.
