Join us for an informative session on Kickstand, a province-wide initiative that is focused on implementing integrated youth services. This webinar will provide an overview of how Kickstand is enhancing access to mental health care, substance use support, primary care, peer support, and social services for youth and young adults aged 11 to 25, free of charge. Designed to be youth-friendly, accessible, and low-barrier, Kickstand is transforming the way services are delivered and coordinated across the province. Attendees will gain insight into the model’s implementation, the current Kickstand Network and virtual services.
Speakers
Vivian Kwan
Kickstand Community Engagement & Partnership Lead
Vivian is a coffee connoisseur and passionate advocate for mental health and equity. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and Psychology, and a Master of Public Health. Her work spans non-profits, public institutions, and international organizations such as UN Women and the World Economic Forum. Since 2022, Vivian has worked as the Community Engagement and Partnership Lead at Kickstand, where she supports the co-creation of accessible mental health and wellness services for youth across Alberta. Her role involves engaging with young people, families, and community partners to ensure services are inclusive, responsive, and grounded in lived experience. Throughout her career, she has centered her work on health equity, mental wellness, and culturally informed care, particularly for racialized and underserved communities. As a racialized woman, Vivian brings an intersectional lens to her work and continues to participate in equity-focused initiatives.
Lauren Mickel
Kickstand Stakeholder & Partnerships Engagement Coordinator
Lauren Mickel (she/her) helps co-create accessible, youth-centered, free mental health and wellness services in Alberta. With a background spanning psychology, public speaking, event coordination, and community engagement, Lauren enjoys people-focused roles that bring meaningful change. She is especially passionate about amplifying youth voices, building authentic partnerships, and fostering equity-focused, culturally informed approaches. Outside of work, Lauren is always seeking adventure, whether through traveling, trying out new restaurants, or spending time with friends or her dog. She also channels her love for events into working behind the scenes at festivals like the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival during the summer months.
