Recent changes to Alberta’s gambling legislation have sparked important conversations about the future of gambling in the province and what this could mean for postsecondary communities. Join Healthy Campus Alberta and the Responsible Gambling Council for a session on what we know about gambling and young people, and trends that may be relevant for students in the context of the new legislation.
The webinar will explore unique factors for young adults including connections between gambling, mental health digital engagement and online behaviours, and the financial pressures many students are navigating. Together, we’ll discuss current research, emerging trends, and practical considerations for postsecondary institutions looking to better understand and support student wellbeing.

Associate Director, Education and Programs, Responsible Gambling Council
Lisa Couperus is associate director, Education and Programs at the Responsible Gambling Council, where she leads evidence-informed gambling harm prevention and education initiatives for youth and young adults. Since creating RGC’s first gambling awareness program for post-secondary students in 2001, she has led the development of practical, award-winning programs that translate research into action and centre the experiences of young people. Lisa brings more than two decades of prevention and awareness experience, including earlier work in alcohol harm reduction, and is recognized for building effective partnerships among youth, educators, communities, and sector stakeholders to advance meaningful change.
